Bible viciously defaced ‘for art’

An art exhibition where people are encouraged to write in a Bible has seen visitors daub abuse and obscenities across its pages.

Part of Made in God's Image, the exhibit also includes a video of a woman ripping pages from the Bible and stuffing them into her bra, knickers and mouth.

This is what counts as art? Pathetic.

Next to the copy of the Bible at the Gallery of Modern Art (Goma) in Glasgow is a container of pens and a notice, which says: 'If you feel you have been excluded from the Bible, please write your way back into it.'

The exhibit, entitled Untitled 2009, was put forward by the Metropolitan Community Church with the aim of reclaiming the Bible as a sacred text.

But its pages have been scrawled with comments including 'F*** the Bible' and 'I am Bi, Female & Proud. I want no god who is disappointed in this', the Times reported.

The exhibition was created by artists Anthony Schrag and David Malone, alongside organisations representing gay Christians and Muslims.

The gay mafia strikes again. Gay Muslims eh. So where is a copy of the Koran to deface?

No didn’t think so. Bunch of fucking pussies.

Simon Calvert, deputy director for public affairs at the Christian Institute, said: 'People writing on the Bible doesn't change the truth.

'We all know that they wouldn't do that if it was the sacred text of another religion.

'That a taxpayer subsidised gallery should see fit to give space to something like that is disappointing.'

Taxpayer funded. Come on, where is the equality? We want to see a Koran scrawled on by the gay mafia. Maybe they should try reading a copy, or maybe travelling to an Islamic state and defacing a Koran surrounded by members of the Religion of Peace.

A Church of Scotland spokesman said: 'We would discourage anyone from defacing the Bible.'

A spokesman for the Catholic Church said: 'One wonders whether the organisers would have been quite as willing to have the Koran defaced.'

Susie Squire, of the TaxPayers' Alliance, said: 'People pay their council tax to get their bins collected, not to fund pornography and destruction of religious texts.'

The Goma gallery is also home to sh[OUT], a project which includes an exhibition featuring gay pornography and a series of 'community outreach' events designed to tackle homophobia.

I’m not a fan of religion, and I don’t believe in any of these texts, but you can’t help respecting the calm, balanced response by Christians regarding what can only be seen as a brutal defamation of a text they believe to be holy. Islam can learn a thing or to. Except that they won’t seeing as they are commanded to wage Jihad on the whole human race until it is subjugated.

Where's the Koran? Largely a pointless question a it is not a Muslim country....yet

Culturally in the UK at the moment a statement about religion will almost always be a statement about Christianity. It is a shared language even if it is no longer guaranteed to be a shared belief.

The Koran on the other hand would just look like squiggles to most Brits. It'd be hard to write a response to passages you couldnt read!

As for the "calm balanced" response I'd consider everyone who says "they'd never do this to a Koran" is really saying "because Muslims would kill them and I wish I could kill them too"

If there really was a calm balanced response it'd be to realise that someone else's bitterness against your holy book has no effect either way on its truth value.

Muslims kill six Christians over Quran claims

This is symptomatic of a bigger issue.

Sideline Christianity and promote Islam! says Hazel Blears, Communities Secretary (Labour)
